Painting Sunny Adirondack Chairs

make a happy duo

by the pool.

Adirondack chairs have a lot of nooks and crannies,

so I always start with a spray primer.

Turn the chairs upside down to start.

Cover all exposed bottom, then turn and spray the rest.

Next, spray with your base color.

It takes about 1  1/2 cans primer

1  1/2 cans yellow per chair.

Painting adirondack chairs takes time.

Even after all of that spray, you won't have full coverage.

It might look splotchy and rough.

Sand the rough spots.

Now I brush on a mix of mostly exterior yellow,

a slight bit of light orange, and lots of glaze.

This will smooth the surface and give a nicer finish.

Here are some colors I used for the detail painting:

Spray an exterior clear sealer.

You may need to do this once a year.

Happy 4th of July Friends!
